One week left in development! If there were a double crunch mode, we are definitely in it now! This week we focused a lot on polish and visuals, with adding UI, more lighting and player guidance.
First up, here is an updated version of our opening intro cinematic - Fabian worked to get textures rendering nicely in maya and also tuned the animations to be smoother and more believable.
We have a few in-game screenshots to show the lighting changes from our lampposts - they act as great player guidance and Brendan added some small animation so the lanterns would swing gently in the wind. We will need to switch to a cheaper solution as the dynamic shadows are taking quite a toll on performance, but they give a really nice look.

Next week will be an exciting milestone for Studio 38 - it will be the end of the 8-week deadline we had to produce this vertical slice of our game! We will be going over our game from its baby starting stages, revisiting our pillars, and showing all the progress up until the final result.
